2021 Overdose Hackathon
Innovate to stop overdose! The 2021 COBRE Overdose Hackathon seeks innovators to create solutions to help address preventable drug overdose.
We would like to invite you to participate in theVirtual COBRE Overdose Hackathon to be held on Friday, October 15th through Sunday, October 17th, 2021 with a kick-off event that can be joined virtually on the platform Airmeet or in-person at District Hall in Providence from 4-8 pm (Located at 225 Dyer Street). Virtual networking and matchmaking opportunities will be made available throughout the event, and a series of amazing speakers will share community, healthcare, and policy innovations related to the overdose problem.
The top three teams will receive $400 per person and next-step seed funding of up to $40,000 is available.
396 Rhode Islanders lost their lives to drug overdose in 2020. We seek creative solutions focused on addressing this preventable health problem in the state of Rhode Island.
• Hacking is creative problem-solving. (It does not have to involve technology.)
• A hackathon is any event of any duration where people come together to solve problems.

For this hackathon, we are encouraging participants to stimulate conversations, share ideas, and form collaborations to address one or a combination of three different topic areas:
Community strategy for overdose—an idea for the community that focuses on a community-based problem related to overdose.
Healthcare solutions to overdose—an idea that addresses a problem of the healthcare system or healthcare setting related to overdose
Policy solutions to overdose—an idea that addresses a drug policy or health policy problem related to overdose
