Advocate Workshop: The Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership Act.

Summer 2022 kicks off OpenAir’s grassroots mobilization to build support for Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership Act. Join us!

The Federal Carbon Dioxide Removal Leadership (CDRLA) is new legislation introduced in both the U.S. House (Rep. Tonko -NY20 / Rep Peters РCA52) and Senate (Sen. Whitehouse -RI / Sen. Coons -DE) during the 117th Congress. The CDRLA addresses the problem of demand uncertainty for direct air capture (DAC) and other critical technology-based carbon removal solutions by creating a long-term, sustainable and publicly-funded carbon dioxide removal procurement program administered by the U.S. Department of Energy. Congress can implement this legislation and, in doing so, help deploy innovative carbon removal projects across the nation, create tens of thousands of good-paying jobs, and boost economic development in energy communities.

Join the Mobilization

Starting in Summer 2022 OpenAir Collective members across the United States will mobilize in their states and districts to educate U.S. Representatives and Senators about the CDRLA, and attempt to build broad political support for the legislation in Congress needed to make it law.

The first stage of our mobilization will center on direct constituent engagement with Representatives and Senators through scheduled zoom lobbying events, organized and led by OpenAir members.

Workshop Program

In this 1-hour session, OpenAir activists will provide

An overview of the CDRLA legislation and its main policy elements.

A detailed breakdown of key advocacy actions for Summer 2022 that OpenAir advocates, existing and new, can participate in to elevate the CDRLA among members of Congress, starting with direct zoom lobbying.

Anyone, regardless of past advocacy experience, is encouraged to join this session and take part in scheduled campaign activities this summer and beyond. The only qualification is a passion for CDR and a willingness to get active!

The event is finished.
