DETAILS

Cyber security researchers are traversing unfamiliar research terrain every day. As a relatively new research field constantly undergoing rapid change, there is inadequate guidance and accountability measures which could potentially impede effective and responsible ethical research practices. As a result, it could be challenging for researchers to understand current legal and ethical boundaries.

This CSCRC training session will present an overview of pertinent ethical and legal issues facing researchers in the cybersecurity community, along with current shortfalls in existing academic research ethics governance practices. It will offer perspectives on research best practice as it comes to conducting responsible, ethical and legal cyber security research, touching on areas of privacy, data storage and dissemination, along with jurisdiction.
