DETAILS

In this session we are joined by three renowned experts to examine the role of climate finance in an international context, what this means for reaching global targets, and how this translates domestically to financing climate action at home.
Amal-Lee Amin, Sandra Guzmán and Natalie Unterstell bring an impressive range of experience from their respective areas of climate finance.

Dr Amal-Lee Amin
Amal-Lee is the director of climate strategy at the CDC Group PLC (the UK’s development finance institution for more than 70 years) and is a senior advisor for the COP26 unit at the UK cabinet office, shaping policy and finance to drive investments for transformative net zero and climate-resilient outcomes. Previously Amal-Lee worked for the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) as Chief of Climate Change, and spent ten years working on sustainable energy and climate change within the UK government.

Dr Sandra Guzmán
Sandra is an international specialist in low carbon development and climate finance. She is the Founder and General Coordinator of the Climate Finance Group for Latin America and the Caribbean, and the first Mexican on the Homeward Bound Project – visiting Antarctica to document the impacts of climate change in the territory. Sandra was awarded intellectual of the year in 2018 by the Marie Claire Magazine and was selected as one of the 34 global changemakers by the UK government’s Chevening scholarship.

Natalie Unterstell

Natalie has served as the Head of Sustainable Development for the Brazilian Presidency, Head of Climate Change and Forests at the Brazilian Ministry of the Environment, and as a climate and forests negotiator at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Having lived and worked in the Amazon rainforest, she has worked in government, private sector and civil society roles, and is the founder of multiple think tanks and policy advocacy groups focused on climate leadership and good governance.
Climate change is a global challenge. This is the seventh in our series of open Zoom sessions with international experts who have been leading climate action in their respective jurisdictions.
