F⚡CK UP NIGHT – Why we failed the energy transition hosted by Young Energy Professionals Worldwide Council)
“Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” ― Samuel Beckett. We need to “fail better” in order to shape a sustainable world.
What is this event about?
The global energy transition is an ambitious project – and yes: sometimes things can go terribly wrong. Flawed political regulation, stranded assets and exceeding costs are just some of the classics which could be observed all over the world just over the past decades. Bringing in a European perspective, our distinguished speakers from Poland, Germany, Austria, Finland and France will showcase to you the most significant energy-related national fuck-ups and mistakes. But as we are here to solve and not dwell on issues, each session will include a section on how this problem was either already resolved or how it could be tackled in the future. Turning towards a renewable and sustainable energy on an international scale requires collaboration, even if this means sharing the downs, not just the ups, so that doing the same mistakes can be avoided.
This event takes a holistic view on different nations and their domestic energy systems. To comprehensively bring all of this together, our selected group of speakers, consisting of key experts and decision-makers from governments, industry and academia will present in the Pecha Kucha format.
