Our food is getting smarter. A host of new technologies is driving the digitalization of our food supply chain – otherwise known as the move to Food Systems 4.0. It’s a shift on such a scale that the executive VP of PepsiCo René Lammers has compared it to the age, 11,000 years ago, when humans began cultivating animals and grains for consumption.
From the Internet of Things (IoT) to big data to algorithmic food development, Food Systems 4.0 will mark a transformational change in the way we grow, produce, transport, buy and consume what we eat. Many companies are already embracing digital solutions to increase food safety and food chain transparency, reduce waste and create more personalized products. Others still have reservations about cyberattacks and privacy concerns.
On June 9th, we’ll kick-off our Impact Platform on Food Systems 4.0 with a roundtable event that explores the opportunities and challenges in this promising field. We’ll hear from three leading speakers before opening up the floor for discussion and debate.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the innovations in this space or exploring how they could apply the latest technologies as part of their work is welcome to attend.
