Jurist-in-Residence at Concordia University, Morton S. Minc cordially invites you to an evening in conversation with Me Jean-Nicolas Delage.

Me Delage will explore the following topics:

  • What is Intellectual Property? (Copyright, Trademarks, Patents, Trade secrets)
  • Chain of Title issues (IP ownership issues with founders; IP ownership issues with consultants, subcontractors, employees and interns)
  • Licensing vs Assignments
  • Governmental grant with respect to intellectual property
  • The importance of patents for start ups

Students in the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science, lawyers, and the general public are invited to attend.

To participating lawyers: the eligibility of this training has been confirmed by the Barreau du Québec for the purposes of mandatory continuing education, for a period of one (1) hour.


Jean-Nicolas Delage is the co-leader of the Technology, Media and Telecommunications group at Fasken and specializes in intellectual property strategy for rapidly growing technological clients.

Me Delage often helps clients with intellectual property matters during commercial transactions, including licensing, cooperation agreements, due diligence investigations, etc. He participates in implementing patent pools in the wake of new standards adopted by standard-setting bodies and advises clients on intellectual property issues that raise the standardization process. He also contributes to developing intellectual property management strategies and policies for grant agencies and businesses forming part of a research consortium that includes the government, businesses, universities and government research centres.
