DETAILS

Philanthropy has a rich and storied history, yet in a rapidly disrupted society it can seem somewhat slow and reactionary to the critical social issues of our time. There are plenty of folks out there talking about current trends which are informative, interesting and thought provoking, yet their actions seem to be confined within the boundaries of their current strategic plans.

How might philanthropy move beyond funding as societal triage, reimagining itself through a commitment to social justice and using its corpus to seed new solutions, not reinforcing a tired status quo?

What if we looked at what the future might look like in 10 years’ time and reverse engineered the tech, trends and talent being predicted to be indicative of a fourth industrial revolution all while trying to catch the tailwinds of a historic $68 trillion global transfer of wealth?

To celebrate the launch of the soon to be released book, Future Philanthropy: The Tech, Trends & Talent Defining New Civic Leadership, and to highlight the Australian based emerging leaders featured within it, this curated event will feature two moderated Q&A’s over 2 consecutive days, discussing not only the core pillars of the book but also through the lens of Australian philanthropy – where it is, where it’s going and what we might expect over the coming decade.

The event will feature comments from the books author Ryan Ginard, CFRE and a candid discussion about the promise, potential and pitfalls of philanthropy between two of the books featured emerging leaders in Krystian Siebert from the Swinburne University of Technology and Sarah Moran, Co-Founder & CEO of Girl Geek Academy.

Both sessions will be coupled with two amazing sector leaders who will both moderate and provide insight to these future focused panels. Jack Heath, CEO of Philanthropy Australia & Dr. Wendy Scaife, Director, Australian Centre for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Studies, Social Purpose Theme Leader, Centre for Future Enterprise, Queensland University of Technology will be leading this unique dialogue.

The event is finished.
