Global learning through digital immersive storytelling
A focused discussion around the challenges and opportunities for global learning educators working in immersive virtual environments.
Global learning through digital immersive storytelling: impact, innovation and motivation
What is digital immersive storytelling and how is it being used in global learning? Why are an increasing number of schools using it in the classroom? How are teachers and young people developing curriculum and enrichment activities using a platform like Lyfta? What do we know about impact so far and what questions still need answering?
In this seminar, Harriet Marshall, Lyfta’s Head of Educational Research, presents and facilitates a discussion around the challenges and opportunities for global learning educators working in immersive virtual environments (IVE). By drawing upon research from the University of Tampere in Finland and school-based studies in the UK, this seminar explores the fascinating discovery that IVEs have the potential to reduce inter-social anxiety and build empathy and confidence to better connect with others – we in turn consider what this might mean for global learning pedagogy and practice.
