Is technology disrupting the corporate bond market? – FINSG

Or is this a chance for reinvention?

We will look at the impact of technology on the corporate bond market

The impact and disruption that technology is having across the financial industry is well-documented with the media often focusing on the rise of innovative online retail banking service platforms and fintechs. However, less coverage is given to debt capital markets which are traditionally the domain of larger institutional players and have a huge part to play in the financial ecosystem.

In this presentation, Uzoma will give an overview of the corporate bond market and share his insight into areas in which technology is having the greatest impact. He will reflect on his over 20 years of corporate bond and derivatives trading experience in financial services, to discuss the ways in which technology is likely to shape the corporate bond market of the future.

Uzoma Igboaka has 20 years of credit trading experience working for top tier US and European investment banks. After graduating from Cambridge with a Mathematics degree in 2001, he joined Goldman Sachs’ FICC Division as a trader, specialising in an array of credit products, including credit derivatives, investment grade and high yield corporate bonds. The Great Financial Crisis played a pivotal role in honing his expertise in risk management, and he has continued to successfully navigate the various crises that have arisen since then.

He has held senior banking positions, recently as Head of European Investment Grade Credit Trading at BNP Paribas and is currently a Managing Director at Jefferies, where he is helping to grow the firm’s European IG corporate bond trading franchise.
