New and Advanced Nuclear Reactors in the U.S.: Security and Safeguards

Join us for open sessions on October 4 and 5 with speakers on Security, Safeguards, and International Issues for New and Advanced Reactors

Nuclear energy could play an important role in moving towards net-zero emissions, but there are many economic, regulatory, and societal factors that determine whether expanding nuclear power is a feasible solution. The National Academies invite you to join us for virtual open sessions exploring security, safeguards, and international issues for new and advanced reactors on October 4-5, 2021 from 11:00am-3:00pm ET.

Download the meeting agenda on the event page.

This workshop is part of the input gathering process for a larger National Academies study with the goal of assessing the future of new and advanced nuclear reactor technologies and identifying opportunities and barriers for commercialization. Learn more, read bios of the committee members, and sign up for the study-specific mailing list on the study website.

The event is finished.
