DETAILS

Join us online for lunch at 12.30 on 10 November to learn how your peers are taking advantage of the political and economic agendas and new digital technologies to drive and monitor development in their communities.

Digital Urban’s exploration of space data in 2021 is enabling local authorities to start their digital journeys earlier and inspiring Homes England to trial the usage of satellite data in monitoring large scale development.
Keith Keeley from Wirral Local Authority will share how Wirral used its 3D model to showcase its regeneration plans for Birkenhead, enabling them to secure over £55 million in grants from the High Street Fund and Levelling Up Fund. Keith will also describe how their model is used for public engagement.

Brian Gowthorpe from Berwick-upon-Tweed Civic Society has been similarly inspired by the lower entry cost of satellite data which has enabled his town of just 13,500 residents to start its digital journey. As part of multi-organisational Better Berwick, Brian has championed the development of a digital twin to build an intuitive and user-friendly means of engaging with residents, the public sector and entrepreneurs, making it easier to visualise the problems, solutions and opportunities. The objective is to unlock funding and investment in the town’s tired-looking high street and beyond.

And finally Digital Urban’s founder Simon Mabey will discuss what’s next in the digital development sphere in terms of scanning, modelling and digital-twinning – he’ll ask Victoria Leesam from Homes England about the aims of their trial – and talk to Watford Local Authority about making their first digital hire.

And despite Simon’s passion for technology, he explains that the real innovation might just be in how humans are working together.

We’ve challenged our speakers to talk for 5 minutes each – and then we’ll invite questions.

Please also share your own experiences. How are you innovating? What are your funding recommendations? And share your challenges – do you believe your town or city would not benefit from the digital design process?
And take a look at one of Digital Urban’s digital twins below as inspiration!

This event is being run on Teams Webinar so we will send you a bespoke invite link once you’ve signed up! Thanks.

The event is finished.
