NOAA Big Data Lunch and Learn
Bekkhah Lampe, NOAA Office of Education, will talk about educational resources that you can incorporate into your classroom.
Please join us for a virtual lunch and learn August 25th at noon where Bekkah Lampe, NOAA Office of Education, will talk about educational resources, including datasets, that you can incorporate into your classroom teaching. This event follows great momentum that was created with NOAA and our Focus Forward event from this past spring. Focus Forward provided a great lineup of speakers that discussed how they used NOAA’s datasets to build successful businesses and make the transition from ideas or research to commercial output. If you have interest in seeing the recordings of the events, please visit: https://wvpec.wvu.edu/
Over the past two months, we’ve gathered that as the earth’s climate continues to change, catastrophic weather increases and the severity of collateral damage worsens, data on weather and climate patterns will only become more important. This event will share ways faculty and students can be a part of solving these problems. There are endless possibilities to use NOAA’s data to launch startups, create new technologies or play into FinTech, the financial markets, investments, real estate development, transportation, supply chains, manufacturing, Smart Agriculture and more. The list goes on and on.
During the webinar, we will also provide details about a Spring 2022 virtual case competition, hosted by WVU John Chambers College of Business and Economics. The case competition will focus on the intersection of FinTech and climate, targeting both undergraduate and graduate students across the country. Cases will be developed with input from NOAA and entrepreneurs from the FinTech sector.
