Dr Heidi Thiemann leads the Cornwall Space and Aerospace Technology Training (CSATT) project at Truro and Penwith College, where her team is setting up space apprenticeships and training to launch the Cornish space sector. She’s also the Director and Co-founder of the Space Skills Alliance, working on analysing space sector data. Earlier this year she finished a PhD in astrophysics at The Open University where she researched stars on the brink of merging and exploding, and before that she ran the website SpaceCareers.uk, helping young people to get jobs in the space sector.
Sam Raviraja is studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Leicester. She is a member of UKSEDS and had recently carried out a talk at the student space symposium on how to interpret alien communications.
Sam is especially passionate about space and space sector developments. She will be staring at Airbus in the Innovation department as a year in industry student this year, she is on the verge of developing a space start-up that has been accepted into a program with MIT! (Which has an acceptance rate less than 10% with thousands of applications around the world). She aspires to become a space missions director and to visit Mars in the future! She currently leads a team of 14 who are taking part in the Olympus Mars Rover Trials.
