Supportive Communities: Assistive Technology & Digital Skills
This is a 1 hour FREE online session delivered by Support Staffordshire , working in partnership with Staffordshire County Council.
This session will be recorded. By signing and attending you are agreeing that we may record and share this training.
‘Supportive Communities’ is a programme of work that supports older people to stay healthy and independent for longer. It’s about:
- Supporting people to stay connected with their local community.
- Helping people to find different solutions, so they can stay in their own homes for longer. This could be a new piece of daily living equipment or technology that supports independence.
- Encouraging people to look after their own health and wellbeing, so they can lead a healthy, happy and fulfilling life.
In this session we will cover:
- Daily living equipment and technology
- Digital skills
In this session you’ll explore a range of simple, affordable, but extremely useful items of daily living equipment and technology that can help older people to stay independent in their own homes. These can range from big button telephones that can help people to stay in touch with others, grabbers that can help people with mobility issues, and items that can help people with preparing meals, eating and drinking. There are so many useful items to discover! People may also be struggling to access the activities they used to enjoy if they have moved online due to COVID-19, and they might not have the skills or technology to get involved. So this session will help you to remove the barriers to enable others to stay connected.
Training certificates will be provided.
