The December 2021 Jobs Report was a disappointment with 210,000 jobs added as analysts and politicians feared the slowing down of the job market. With the new Omicron COVID-19 variant now taking hold, worries are accelerating, but what’s next is really anyone’s guess.

With the year that was, who knows what the new year will bring. Will there be more inflation? Will the Federal Reserve raise interest rates and disrupt the cheap money we’ve enjoyed for some time? How will the 2022 US midterm elections go? With so many questions, this is sure to be interesting.

Dr. White is an Associate Professor of Finance and Endowed Bank of America Lecturer at the University of New Mexico. In addition to teaching MBA students, Dr. White serves as the University Outreach Chair for the CFA Society of New Mexico, Chair of the Cassidy CFA Scholarship, and advisor for the $3.6 Million student-run UNM Regent’s Portfolio. Prior to his career in academia, Dr. White worked as an analyst for a large Boston-based bank, where he learned a great deal about company analysis, funding, and maintaining ethical corporate leadership. He also consults with investment managers on maintaining optimal portfolio strategies, particularly in response to economic challenges.
