Randi Williams is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab. She received a Bachelors Degree in Computer Engineering from UMBC in 2016 where she was also an advocate for women and minorities in technology. Her focus is on designing robots that supplement the education of children. The robots of the and PopBot SoRo projects play educational games with children. The robots serve as a partner in developing interpersonal and computational skills through play. Previously, she worked at UMBC’s Mobile, Pervasive, and Sensor Systems Lab and has also interned at NASA Jet Propulsion Lab, MIT Lincoln Lab, and AliphCom/Jawbone.
